One More Week? Please!

So a week has come and gone since I last asked you to answer the question, "What is a Christian?"  To my shame, I've not yet had a chance to compile all of my thoughts in the form of a post.  They are still floating around in this head of mine, and I've still got to grab them and put them down on paper.  So, if you don't mind, let's do 2 things.

1. Let's push back my response another week. Next Wednesday is my self-imposed deadline.
2. If you haven't already given an answer to the question, "What is a Christian?", take some time to write a short answer.  I was hoping for a little bigger response than what I got for discussion's sake, so this gives you a little more time to answer if you'd like. You can leave a comment here in answer to the proposed question.

And to make it up to you, here's a pretty hilarious video Kevin DeYoung posted last week on his blog.  I just hope your dentist is a little better than this one.

T4G 2010: Band of Bloggers Videos

Before the actual T4G 2010 Conference started, I took part in the Band of Bloggers meeting.  If you are not familiar with the Band of Bloggers, here is a quick snippet about them posted from their site:

"The Band of Bloggers was started with a vision and collaborative effort to unite bloggers who have a passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ. It carries with it a desire that the gospel be normative in our lives, central in our writing, and powerful in our witness to the world."

The theme of this year's meeting was "Internet Idolatry & Gospel Fidelity."  The speakers included Justin Taylor, Jonathan McIntosh, Trevin Wax, and Jared Wilson.  Owen Strachan moderated the panel discussion afterwards, and the entire event was put together by Timmy Brister.  It was excellent and provoked much thought on my end about how I blog and use the internet.  I might just have to post some of these thoughts later.

Lastly, for those of you who are interested, here are the videos of the meeting.  If you have to listen to just one, listen to Jonathan McIntosh's short talk.

How Sweet & Awful Is the Place

I recently bought the Together for the Gospel Live 2008 music CD last month and am loving it! I'm preparing myself to go to T4G 2010 and can hardly wait. By the way, if you're going, let me know. I'd love to see you there. Back to the CD...

One hymn in particular has been ministering to me: How Sweet & Awful Is the Place by Isaac Watts. It envisions the bride of Christ gathering around the heavenly table eating the feast of the Lamb and praising God. I keep coming back to this one stanza.

Why was I made to hear thy voice
And enter while there's room
When thousands make a wretched choice
And rather starve than come?

I will never understand why God has chosen to love a sinner such as me. There is nothing good in me that would cause God to love me. Nothing! I can only rely on Deuteronomy 7:7-8. He loves me because he loves me.
